148th X-Plane.org fly-in (Death Valley)

-return to picture archive-

This week's fly-in in Furnace Creek, Death Valley was one of my first opportunities to run the sim on my new 24-inch iMac. Due to a limitation in X-Plane's screenshot function, I couldn't run the sim at the screen's native resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, so while the shots are in widescreen format, the quality isn't quite as high as it should be.

In a macabre coincidence, Steve Fossett went missing on a flight in nearby Nevada the very week of this fly-in. Our resident survival expert, Ranger, posted the coordinates of the airfield Fossett took off from. You can see the area around Flying M Ranch towards the end of the screenshot gallery, though it may not be very recognizable as there's no custom scenery for that area.
