X-Plane crashed after I continued my trip from KSNK, so I postponed the KSNK-KAUS flight to the same day as the fly-in. Taking off from KSNK at about 1300 GMT It was too dark to follow the roads, and I was out of the navaid's range, so I headed in the approximate direction with the compass hoping to get a more accurate direction when I got nearer to the Tuscola VOR.

Along the way the visibility decreases, so I descend to get a better glimpse of the roads. By this time there's enough light to see them, no road lighting in V8 :( Following the railroad from Tuscola

Coleman Brownwood After Brownwood there were no conveniently heading roads to follow - it's back to following the VORs. Heading south and climbing.

I could barely fly above the clouds without getting icing, this was about as high as I could go Dropping lower into the clouds, I tried to get a glimpse of the ground. According to my atlas the ground level would be somewhere between 600 and 2000 feet here, and accounting for a slightly miscalibrated altimeter I didn't dare go any lower. Fortunately the weather cleared up soon
