Marking not only the last regular schedule fly-in of 2008 before the start of our latest fly-in lottery, but also the date of the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, this Sunday's event naturally took place on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. Though Honolulu International Airport (PHNL) served as a good central place for the gathering, other airfields such as Wheeler, Bellows and Ford Island were also included within the fly-in area, to name only a few. Early in the morning, around the time of the Pearl Harbor attack, a number of pilots showed up for a mock dogfight in a number of old warbirds, including of course the Curtiss Warhawk and Mitsubishi Zero. The formation fly-by afterwards was less than completely successful, but that was to be expected, given the nature of network flight in X-Plane.
